Rodney P – The nice up

I don’t love this music, but I like it. I don’t love this video style, but I like it.

As a composite, though, this video delivers. The editing tells such a rich narrative about each party who takes a ride in this crazy taxi, all within 5 to 10 seconds of video, all the while weaving the portrait of a cabby’s even-headed perspective on those 15 to 20 minute slices of British life.

Set in London, something tells me that the artists themselves get a serious kick out of the juxtaposition of old Brit style running right up against their gold-toothed grills.

I’ve watched it twice since I found it through the strange Tako Truk of Seattle, whose webpage really does make me want to check Twitter for their up-to-the-minute menu announcements and 86s.

Eric Cash Eats Fire, Blows Smoke

You can find him around Fisherman’s Wharf on certain evenings…

Unfortunately, the Pier officials have decided to ban fire from street performances and have been threatening to make arrests.

Eric and others like him have been doing these shows for years without harmful incident (except to himself…), so the indictment of fire is purely speculatory and baseless. It also effectively destroys his act if the measure remains in place.

Combined with the ABC’s sudden draconian measures against live music venues, threatening to fine establishments that allow under-21 audiences to ANY shows, I have to ask: Why does San Francisco suddenly seem so hostile to the vibrant local culture that made it great in the first place?

Dear Mr. Vaynerchuk, your social media video reminds me of death.

This video falls apart for me where he says that the key is to look at yourself in the mirror and ask, “What do I want to do every day for the rest of my life?”

The idea of choosing just one thing, or just one routine, to do for the rest of my life, makes me feel like I’m going to DIE.

Chris Pirillo on social media

I suspected there was more to Pirillo than meets the eye. He’s wicked smart in that discipline-spanning, Renaissance man sort of way. And I have to say, intellectual passion looks good on him.

This video was single-handedly responsible for getting me interested in going to Gnomedex this year.

Twitter Usage Patterns: Peggy Dolane

March 16, 2009 at 9:11 pm (Uncategorized)

Would love to see the ability to segregate my Twitter and facebook feeds in one place…. kinda like Tweetdeck. Twitter is too frequent and open to be annoying to my facebook friends. Facebook is too private and intimate for blending with Twitter. If I could have a place where I could have private conversations and public ones, sorta a Twitter+Facebook combo with Tweetdeck grouping thrown in, that would be perfect.
